Texas Zone Plate 2010, Vol 6

September 8, 2010

I spent a few hours at Lake Pflugerville the evening before Hermine arrived.  I love the soft, dream-like quality the zone plate can sometimes produce.  I use my first digital camera, a Nikon D50, as my dedicated zone plate camera.  And I always hand hold the camera.   Don’t look for razor-sharp images with this technique!

I was under the impression that the Texas wildflowers were only a spring thing.  What I am finding is different wildflowers bloom throughout the summer months also.  My guess is when the rains stop and the  dryness begins the flowers my dry up too.  Right now the roadsides are  covered with these sunflower like yellow  flowers.

The Crape Myrtles are in full bloom.  I think something so beautiful should have a beautiful oder to go with it, like the lilacs of the northeast.  Unfortunately, they have only their visual  fragrance  to delight.
